Background
The S58 engine in the 2021+ BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models features an engine oil cooler that is mounted horizontally beneath the front central radiators. The original oil cooler have a Tube & Finn core, which can easily get damaged by stone chips or other road debris. Because of its design and location, it's not rare for the oil cooler to start leaking due to damage from small stones or other road debris. Such oil leaks can critically damage the engine. With our do88 engine oil cooler, we offer a much more durable design and of course at the same improve the cooling performance!
Our solution
To design our oil cooler accurately, we performed a detailed 3D scan of the oil cooler's mounting area. This scan gave us a detailed space to design our do88 engine oil cooler in. We replaced the original Tube & Finn core with a more durable Bar & Plate core combined with TIG-welded aluminum tanks.
Our upgraded do88 engine oil cooler helps your M2, M3, or M4 maintaining correct oil temperature both on the track and road. Our design increases the active cooling area (+14%) and core volume by (57%) compared to the original oil cooler. The robust Bar & Plate core will withstand road debris and stone chips much better and improve the cooling performance.
